Great Kills Road, 2009

From IMDb:

The father of a severely mentally handicapped boy goes to find his son’s runaway mother in her native New York.

Trivia:

Four years after the film was shot Bart traveled to New York to record the same sound paths the camera had traveled in the film. For example, at exactly the same location, he checked the number of steps and the movements that the camera had taken earlier and re-enacted the movements. The most challenging part was the fire truck passing by as the camera takes the corner – this was managed after three recording attempts (or perhaps a few more….).

The aim was to give the audience an immersive experience from the protagonist’s perspective of what it is like to be a sober Dutchman in New York looking for his ex-wife).
